Get to know me

I identify as an Antiracist/Decolonial Caribbean clinician with an interdisciplinary background and a multicultural view of interpersonal relationships. I completed my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the APA-accredited program at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. I specialized in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Lacanian Psychoanalysis at the Interdisciplinary Freudian Group for Research and Clinical Intervention (GIFRIC) in Quebec, Canada. I completed my postdoctoral training at Chicago Counseling Collective. I have established expertise in culturally responsive practices in psychotherapy with Latinx clients, acculturative stress in First-Generation American clients, trauma-informed psychotherapy, gender-identity exploration, compassion fatigue, and feminist psychology.

I’m passionate and committed to inspiring others to stretch (cognitive flexibility) and relate (cultural humility) to transform their spaces into more inclusive and authentic ones. In 2018, I trained with the Buck Institute of Education (BIE) in California where I learned how to blend content mastery and skills building with personal connections.

I have been implementing strength-based participatory frameworks in Montessori schools since 2018 by supporting educators develop systems that center on belonging, dignity, and inclusion. Since 2022, I have been a peer clinical consultant for therapists working with multicultural and multiracial individuals in Chicago. In 2023, I joined William James College where I teach and mentor graduate students in the Center for Multicultural and Global Mental Health. I’m involved with the American Group Psychotherapy (AGPA) and the National Latinx Psychology Association (NLPA) where I focus on research dissemination, mentorship, and advocacy with Latinx trainees.
